Plus-Two exam Results

State School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu today said that the Plus Two board examination results would be announced on 14 May at 9 am.

In an official statement here, the Minister said students who had appeared for the exams can get their results at their respective schools. Also, they can get the details through internet / SMS/ telephone numbers provided by the Directorate of Government Examination.

Meanwhile, the State Public Libraries Department has made arrangements to view the Plus Two results in all District Libraries and download the mark list free of cost. The Department has issued instructions to all the librarians in this regard. The results could be viewed at www.pallikalvi.in.

Around 6.89 lakh students appeared for the board exams which commenced on 1 March and concluded on 22 March. About 3,22,381 boys and 3,67,306 girls appeared for the exams —— a total of 42,000 more compared to last year.

This year, the Department of Government Examinations provided one hour extra time at the exams for differently- abled students, visually challenged, deaf, disabled and students with dyslexia disorder. Also, the authorities roped in officials from Anna University to conduct exams.

It may also be noted that re-exams were conducted for 262 students whose Physics papers were found missing.
Counselling for professional courses:

Application forms for the Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2010) are being issued from 3 May and will continue till 29 May.

Students should submit the filled-in applications by 31 May.

Anna University-Chennai has printed over 1.8 lakh applications for the coming academic year. Counselling under single window for BE/BTech programmes for government quota would be held from 28 June to 25 July. The random numbers, used to assess seniority in merit list in case of a tie, would be assigned on 15 June. The rank list will be released on 18 June.

‘As on date, 1,08,025 BE / B Tech seats area available under the government quota for filling up through the single window counselling. Of this, 5,920 seats would be available in the Anna Universities and its 16 constituent colleges, 2,825 seats in government engineering colleges and 1,544 seats in government-aided engineering colleges,’ according to Anna University officials. This year, it is expected that there would be an increase of 12,000 engineering seats through new colleges, the officials said.

Applications for undergraduate medical and dental courses will be on sale from 17 May. The applications would be available at all government medical colleges until 27 May. The last date for submission of filled-in forms has been fixed for the same date. The random number will be generated on 7 June and rank list released on 11 June.

Counselling is scheduled to begin on 21 June and the last date for the first phase of counselling is 7 July.

A total of 1,483 MBBS seats in 15 government medical colleges are available for candidates in Tamilnadu, after surrendering seats to the All India Quota. As many as 262 seats have been allocated in the government colleges to those entering through the Central quota.
A further 348 seats are available under the State quota from five self-financing medical colleges. While 85 BDS seats are available at the Government Dental College, a further 778 under the State quota are there in self-financing dental colleges.

For paramedical degree courses, applications will be sold from 7 June to 15 June. Application forms must be submitted by 15 June. The random number will be generated on 21 June and rank list will be released on 25 June. Counselling will commence on 5 July for these courses.
